Getting started advertising online can be hard to figure out what means what. It’s almost another language people speak when they start online. Here’s a quick guide to help you get started in Paid Media. For the most part there are 3 types on paid advertising online: Facebook Ads, Banner Ads, and Solo Ads.
- Facebook Ads – These are ads that are on the lower right hand side of Facebook. You can create an ad for your business and as people see your ad and click on it they will go to your fanpage or website to see your business. The way you are charged for advertising is on a Pay Per Click or PPC for short basis. The interface is fairly straight forward. If you want to know more about how to use Facebook Ads, look at our Get Traffic 3.0 product in the Products area.
- Banner Ads – Banner ads are basically pictures on websites that are much like billboards on the side of a busy freeway. Websites can charge for you to put your banner ad on their site and when someone clicks on the banner they go to your website. The way this is different than Facebook ads is that you pay ahead of time for a month or some other agreed period and who ever goes to your site it’s the same price.
- Solo Ads – There are many emails lists that you can buy the rights to send an email to that list. You may have signed up for a list before that had special offers or coupons from a department store. This is much the same but you buy someone else’s list. It’s paid the same way as banner ads but the traffic comes about 48 hours after the email is sent to the list.
Hopefully this clears things up on what some of these terms mean. Make sure you do your research on every place you advertise.
