• Facebook Ads – These are ads that are on the lower right hand side of Facebook. You can create an ad for your business and as people see your ad and click on it they will go to your fanpage or website to see your business. The way you are charged for advertising is on a Pay Per Click or PPC for short basis. • Banner Ads – Banner ads are basically pictures on websites that are much like billboards on the side of a busy freeway. Websites can charge for you to put your banner ad on their site and when someone clicks on the banner they go to your website. The way this is different than Facebook ads is that you pay ahead of time for a month or some other agreed period and who ever goes to your site it’s the same price.
• Solo Ads – There are many emails lists that you can buy the rights to send an email to that list. You may have signed up for a list before that had special offers or coupons from a department store. This is much the same but you buy someone else’s list. It’s paid the same way as banner ads but the traffic comes about 48 hours after the email is sent to the list.

Hopefully this clears things up on what some of these terms mean. Make sure you do your research on every place you advertise.

It couldn’t be more true, the more your customers feel like they know your company the more they are willing to buy from you. If you have a small online business it’s even more important. Large companies can’t do this because it takes a lot of time and effort. As a small business owner you are able to do this much easier and will give you a competitive advantage over your competition. Most online business owners think once they go online they no longer have to talk to any of their customers anymore. If you are willing to offer customer support where you interact with your customers, they will be extremely surprised and pleased you took the time to contact them personally.

As you get more customers, make sure you keep all of their contact information and email them on a regular basis to give special discounts but also involve them in the interworkings of your business. People like to hear good stories so be open to the ups and downs of your online business.

Getting more traffic and finding traffic sources or even getting free traffic….

The problem with this is that getting traffic isn’t the problem for most businesses and actually getting traffic is quite easy. The thing you should worry about the most is conversions…

Why conversions? If nobody buys your product or service and you keep sending traffic how many much money do you make?

Correct, Zero… That’s why conversion are so important, without a good converting sales funnel, it doesn’t matter how great your online company is. You can’t pay your bills or grow your business. The main focus for your business should be on conversions of leads to customers which you want to continually perfect because it is the most important thing you can do.

1. URL and Title Tags – The URL or Domain Name and title tags have a lot to do with how you’ll rank on a websearch. You will want to register a domain if possible with a keyword that people will type in when searching for your product and/or service. Using this in the actual URL will instantly propel you up higher than other companies that don’t have the keyword in the actual URL. For example, if you’re in the weight loss industry. If you can use: weight loss, diet or something similar will help your ranking tremendously. Also, it your title tags give a good description of your business that isn’t to cliche but actually explains what your business does.
2. Keywords – Choosing keywords are extremely important. The way search engines like Google search websites is what’s called “crawling” your website to see what keywords are used on your website. Search engines like to see a certain density of keywords. One pitfall a lot of people start out with SEO fall into is that they think more keywords the better. This can actually hurt you more then help you. You want to you between 3 to 5 “long-tail” keywords that fit your customer the best and concentrate on those the most to give yourself the best chance of ranking high. To find keywords, use the google keyword tool to search keywords that are relevant to your business. Also look at your competition to see how they rank on certain keywords.
3. Backlinks – Part of the search engine crawling process is to see how many links outside of your website are associated with your website. These are called “backlinks”, where they link back to your website. This is a bit more complicated of a concept but to keep it simple, if you have links to other large websites that have a lot of traffic then your website will be pulled up in ranking just from those. It always good to connect your website to your YouTube channel if you have videos and to all the social media sites like Facebook.

Starting with these will increase your ranking higher than most companies on the Internet.
